INTRUSION
Marion, a fashion editor enters a photographic studio to direct a shoot. A traumatic event has occurred the night before, the details of which are fragmented and unclear.
As she processes her experience, she finds herself entering the room again and again, until the memory of her trauma starts to emerge in the body and performance of the model.
INTRUSION is the second short film from writer/director Ming-Zhu Hii. A dynamic yet subtle psychological thriller, it examines power and violence in the fashion world, and the obligations on women to perpetuate cycles of violence and objectification of their own and others' bodies.
It premiered in July 2018 as a Narrative Finalist at Heartland Film's Indy Shorts International Film Festival, and then went onto screen at LA Shorts International Film Festival at which it won Best Experimental Film.
In April, 2019 it screened in International Competition at Cellu L’Art, Jena, Germany, in Underwire Women’s Film Festival UK’s #MeToo program, and was a finalist for Best Short at Lorne Film Festival. INTRUSION was distributed in Europe exclusively by Kurzfilm Hamburg, and featured as the pre-programme short in WIFT Australia International Women’s Day screening of THELMA AND LOUISE in Event Cinemas across the country.
